A company built around one signal.
Autonomic Health is a healthcare technology company working on the measurement of the autonomic nervous system. We build the AI models that read autonomic activity from ordinary heart-rate data, and the platform that makes that reading available at scale.
The company grew out of two decades of autonomic research, including the Dysautonomia Research Institute, founded in 2005 and now part of Autonomic Health. Our mission is to unlock people’s full potential in life by improving their health, wellness and performance.
Mission-driven founder
In December 2013, during a New Year’s meditation retreat in upstate New York, Sab Kanaujia — a veteran digital media entrepreneur at a personal inflection point — met three people who would profoundly shape his life and work.
The retreat was led by Bob Thurman and Sharon Salzberg, pioneers of mindfulness in the West. Also present was a humanitarian officer from the United Nations, whom Sab would marry within ten months. Sharon later became godmother to their first daughter.
That retreat marked a turning point. Committed to a more purpose-driven life, Sab left the media industry to explore how technology could improve human wellbeing. With Bob’s guidance, he founded Mindwell Labs in August 2019 as a consumer mental health company — its name suggested by Bob’s wife, Nena.
Over time, Sab recognized a deeper parallel between his work in media and the state of modern health. Just as media had evolved from static, population-based broadcasting to personalized, real-time experiences built on individual data, health remained largely organized around population averages. He saw that changing that would require a new class of continuous, individual-level data. In November 2024 he launched Autonomic Health with an expanded team, grounded in the belief that autonomic nervous-system data is the missing foundation for a genuinely personal understanding of health.
Prof. Bob Thurman
Named by TIME one of the 25 most influential Americans (1997); awarded the Padma Shri in 2020.
Dr. Ramesh Adiraju
An interventional cardiologist with 30+ years in practice, fellowship-trained at Lankenau Hospital, Philadelphia (1993). Career history only — no connection is drawn to any current Autonomic Health product.
Autonomic Health was founded on a simple belief: the body’s regulating layer should be measurable.
That belief shapes how we build technology, how we think about care, and how we define autonomic health.
